A 1200 cc all-in-one grow kit colonised with the Marshmallow strain of Psilocybe cubensis — named for the pale, soft, rounded caps it produces, which look rather like the confectionery.

Everything difficult about growing mushrooms happens before fruiting. Sterilising a substrate and inoculating it without contaminating it is laboratory work, and it is where most home attempts fail. That work is already done here: the box arrives colonised, and what is left is largely observation.

In the box: the colonised substrate container, a micro-filter grow bag and two paperclips. That is the complete list, and it is all you need. No syringes, no sterilising equipment, nothing to buy separately.

3. The basics

We would rather say this plainly than pad the page: the supplier gave us no product description for this kit, so what follows is what we can state accurately about an all-in-one 1200 cc cubensis kit and about how the Marshmallow strain is generally described. If you want strain-specific yield and timing figures, ask us and we will get them from the supplier rather than estimate them here.

3.1 What we can tell you

• It is a 1200 cc all-in-one kit, the same format and volume as the rest of our grow-kit range. The substrate arrives fully colonised.
• The name describes the appearance. Marshmallow is known for pale, soft-looking, rounded caps rather than for any distinct chemistry.
• It is Psilocybe cubensis, like every kit on this site except the Hawaiian Copelandia. The general cubensis figures apply: a stable 20 to 25 °C, indirect light, daily air exchange, multiple flushes with the first the largest.
• Setup is identical to our other kits and is set out in full in section 4.

3.2 What we are not going to tell you

• A yield figure. We do not have a supplier number for this strain and inventing one would be worse than leaving the gap.
• A potency comparison. Strain-level potency claims without an assay behind them are guesswork.
• A flush count or a timing. Same reason. Our Golden Teacher and B+ pages carry those figures because the supplier provides them.

If a strain-specific figure matters to your decision, the Golden Teacher kit is the better-documented purchase and it is nine euros cheaper.

4. Setting it up

1. Clean hands, clean surface, still air. Contamination gets in during setup, not later.
2. Twelve hours submerged in cold water with the lid on.
3. Then pour every drop out, holding the lid slightly ajar.
4. Into the micro-filter bag upright, folded twice and clipped.
5. Warm, stable, indirect light — never a sunny windowsill.
6. Open it for a few seconds each day and close it again.

4.1 Harvesting and later flushes

• Veil break is the harvest cue. It is the best trade between size and potency loss to spore production.
• Twist gently at the base of the stem.
• Take the entire flush in one session.
• Then re-soak for the next: cold water for twelve hours, drained completely.

4.2 If something goes wrong

• Any colour that is not white or mushroom-coloured is bad news. Green and grey patches are mould and the kit is finished; seal it and bin it rather than opening it indoors.
• Trust your nose. A sour, ammonia-like or generally wrong smell means bacteria have taken the substrate.
• Fine grey cobwebbing spreading over the fruits is cobweb mould. More air exchange, immediately.
• Bluing where you have touched a mushroom is not a problem. It is oxidation and it is expected.

5. Before you use them

5.1 Preparation

• A sober sitter, in the room. Not next door, not on the phone — present, sober, and told what you have taken.
• Get down before you start. Sitting or lying. Never standing, never mid-task.
• Strip the room. Nothing burning, nothing breakable, no stairs and no open windows within reach.
• Trip stopper within arm’s reach. The reassurance is worth more than the capsules.
• On its own. No drink, no cannabis, nothing else in the mix.

5.2 Do not use these if

• Strictly 18+.
• Not during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
• Avoid entirely if you or anyone in your immediate family has a history of psychosis, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder or another serious psychiatric condition — psychedelics can trigger episodes in people who are predisposed.
• No alcohol, no cannabis, and nothing prescribed — SSRIs and MAOIs in particular — without medical advice.
• No driving and no machinery for the remainder of the day.
• Legality differs by country and changes over time. Confirm your own before ordering.

The supplier gave us no description for this kit. We have written what we can stand behind and left the gaps visible rather than filling them with plausible-sounding numbers.
