1. Kratom X Kanna Liquid — 10 ml
A 10 ml bottle combining 10X kratom extract with 10X kanna extract — Sceletium tortuosum, a South African succulent with a long history of use among Khoisan peoples, who fermented the plant material before chewing it.
Kratom is the leaf of Mitragyna speciosa, a tree in the coffee family native to Southeast Asia. Its principal alkaloids are mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine, and they act at the body’s opioid receptors. That single fact explains both why kratom is dose-dependent in the way it is and why the cautions on this page are the length they are.
This is the mood-forward blend of the three liquids. Kanna’s reported character is a lift rather than a sedation: brighter, more sociable, described by users as an emotional opening rather than a physical one. Paired with kratom’s body-level calm, the combination is commonly described as euphoric. It is also, for the reason set out in section 3, the blend that needs the most care around medication.
Legal status: Mitragyna speciosa is legal to sell and possess in the Netherlands. It is banned or controlled in a number of other countries — including Denmark, Sweden, Poland, Lithuania, Australia and Thailand at various points — and remains under active regulatory review in the EU and the United States. Verify the law where you live before ordering. Sceletium tortuosum is not a controlled plant in the Netherlands.

3. Kanna, serotonin, and the one interaction that matters
Kanna is not a sedative herb and it is not a mild one either. Its characterised alkaloids — mesembrine chief among them, along with mesembrenone — act as a serotonin reuptake inhibitor. That is a specific pharmacological mechanism, and it carries a specific warning.
- Do not combine kanna with SSRIs, SNRIs or any other antidepressant. Stacking two serotonergic agents risks serotonin syndrome, which is a medical emergency rather than an unpleasant evening.
- Do not combine it with MAO inhibitors. The same reasoning, and the consequences are worse.
- This applies even if you take a low dose of your medication. If you are on anything prescribed for mood, anxiety or migraine, this is not the product for you — ask a pharmacist before you consider it.
- It is why this blend, not the others, gets its own section. The kratom side of all three liquids carries the same risks. The kanna side adds one the other two do not have.
3.1 Why the pairing is popular anyway
Users describe the two plants as pulling in complementary directions rather than competing: kanna lifting mood and sociability, kratom settling the body. It is the blend most often bought for a social evening rather than a quiet one.
| Quantity | Commonly described as |
|---|---|
| Under 5 ml | Mild |
| Around 5 ml | Moderate |
| 5 to 10 ml | Strong — the top of the stated range |
| Whole 10 ml bottle | The maximum stated dose, and not a starting point |
Shake well before measuring, and measure in millilitres. As with the other liquids, decide the amount before you open the bottle rather than while you are drinking it.
4. Cautions
- Absolutely not with antidepressants, MAOIs or other serotonergic medication. Kanna is a serotonin reuptake inhibitor and the combination risks serotonin syndrome.
- Not for anyone under 18, pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Kratom acts on the body’s opioid receptors. Regular use can lead to tolerance, dependence and withdrawal — this is well documented and is the single most important thing to know before starting.
- Do not combine with alcohol, sedatives, opioid medication or other central nervous system depressants. This combination is where serious harm occurs.
- Do not use if you have heart, lung, liver or kidney problems, high or low blood pressure, or diabetes, without medical advice.
- Do not drive or operate machinery after use.
- Kratom is restricted or banned in several European countries and under active regulatory review elsewhere. Check your local law before ordering.
- Keep out of reach of children and pets.
- This liquid contains alcohol (under 14.9% ABV).
If you take anything prescribed for mood, anxiety or migraine, this is the one product on the page to walk away from. Ask a pharmacist first.
