1. Hawaiian Baby Woodrose (Argyreia nervosa) — 10 seeds
Ten seeds of Argyreia nervosa, the Hawaiian baby woodrose — a vigorous climbing vine in the Convolvulaceae family, the same family as morning glory. Its seeds contain LSA (ergine), a naturally occurring ergoline alkaloid.
Of every plant in that family, Argyreia nervosa carries the most LSA per seed, which is why accounts of its use count in single seeds where morning glory accounts count in dozens. Its psychoactivity was only documented in the Western literature in the 1960s, long after the ritual use of related species was recorded in Mesoamerica.
It is also a genuinely rewarding plant to grow, and section 3 covers that in full — which is more than most listings for these seeds bother with.
Legal status: The seeds of Argyreia nervosa are sold legally in the Netherlands. LSA is a controlled substance in a number of other countries and in some places the seeds themselves are restricted. Check your local law before ordering.

3. Growing Hawaiian baby woodrose
This is an ornamental climber with large heart-shaped leaves and lavender trumpet flowers, and the woody seed-pods it dries into are what give it the “woodrose” name — they are used in dried floral arrangements. It is worth growing on those terms alone.
- Scarify or soak first. The seed coat is genuinely hard. Nick it carefully with a blade or a nail file, or soak for 24 to 48 hours in warm water until the seed swells. Untreated seed germinates slowly and unevenly.
- Sow warm. It wants around 20 to 25 °C and will sulk below that. A propagator or a warm windowsill.
- Be patient. Germination can take one to four weeks even after scarifying, and not every seed will come up. Ten seeds is a realistic quantity for getting one or two plants.
- Give it something substantial to climb. This is not a delicate vine — a mature Argyreia nervosa is a heavy, woody climber that will pull down a flimsy trellis.
- Keep it frost-free. It is a tropical perennial. In the Netherlands that means a conservatory, a heated greenhouse or a large pot brought indoors from autumn.
- Feed and water generously in growth. It is vigorous and hungry in the growing season, and nearly dormant in winter.
3.1 If you are interested in the seeds themselves
Then two things matter more than anything else. Nausea is the defining reported feature — the seed material irritates the stomach, and every traditional preparation method exists to reduce that rather than to increase potency. And LSA is a vasoconstrictor: it narrows blood vessels, which is why anyone with a cardiovascular condition, high blood pressure or a circulatory problem should leave these seeds alone entirely.
There is also no established safe dose. Alkaloid content varies between batches, between individual seeds and with storage, and accounts generally describe two to three seeds for someone with no experience.
4. Before you use them
4.1 Preparation
- One sober person stays in the room with you. They know what you took and roughly when.
- Sit or lie down before it begins, not after.
- Clear the space first: no flames, no glass, no stairs, nothing sharp within reach.
- Trip stopper nearby, even if it stays unopened. Most do.
- Nothing else taken with it, including alcohol and cannabis.
4.2 Do not use these if
- Strictly 18+.
- Not during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
- Avoid entirely if you or anyone in your immediate family has a history of psychosis, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder or another serious psychiatric condition — psychedelics can trigger episodes in people who are predisposed.
- No alcohol, no cannabis, and nothing prescribed — SSRIs and MAOIs in particular — without medical advice.
- No driving and no machinery for the remainder of the day.
- Legality differs by country and changes over time. Confirm your own before ordering.
- LSA is a vasoconstrictor. Not for anyone with a cardiovascular condition, high blood pressure or a circulatory problem.
- Nausea and vomiting are commonly reported. Never take them lying flat and unattended.
It is a heavy woody climber with lavender trumpet flowers and dried pods used in floristry. That is a good reason to buy the seeds on its own.
