Psilocybe Utopia Truffles by Royal Magic: fifteen grams of fresh sclerotia from the stronger part of the range, described as immersive, with vivid visuals alongside a strong introspective component.

We also sell a Mush Magic Utopia. Same name, different producer, and no verifiable claim of shared genetics — strain names in this trade are not registered.

Which raises a question worth answering properly, since this shop now carries strong truffles from three different producers: how do you compare strength across brands? Section 3 is the honest answer.

3. Comparing across brands

Every producer rates their own range and none of those scales connects to any other. Here is what that means in practice:

3.1 What to do instead

1. Compare within a brand, not across brands. A producer’s own ratings are the one thing that genuinely tells you something.
2. Change one thing at a time. Switching producer and going up the strength scale in the same purchase means you learn nothing from the result.
3. When trying a new brand, start lower than you would with a familiar one — even for a strain name you recognise.
4. Keep the record by brand as well as strain. “Utopia” in your notes is only useful if it says whose.
5. And remember natural variation swamps a lot of this. Alkaloid content within one strain varies threefold between batches, which is often larger than the difference between two strains.

For Utopia specifically: immersive, visual and introspective, from the stronger part of a range aimed at people who already know how they respond. Fifteen grams is a full session.

4. Preparation and use

4.1 Getting it right

1. Use a scale that reads to a tenth of a gram. This is the one piece of equipment worth owning.
2. Eat lightly two or three hours before, then nothing.
3. Chew, or make a tea in hot but not boiling water. Fifteen minutes is enough.
4. Ninety minutes before any second thought about more.
5. Give the day to it. Four to six hours plus a tail, and a night you want free.

4.2 Setting

• Have a sober sitter present. Someone who stays sober, stays in the room and knows what you have taken.
• Sit or lie down before you start. Do not stand, walk or handle anything.
• Clear the space. No open flames, no stairs, nothing breakable within reach.
• Have a trip stopper to hand. Knowing it is there matters even if you never use it.
• Nothing else alongside it. No alcohol, no cannabis, no other substance.

4.3 Cautions

• Not for anyone under 18.
• Not during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
• Do not use if you or a close family member has a history of psychosis, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder or another serious psychiatric condition. Psychedelics can precipitate episodes in people who are predisposed, and this is the caution we would least like you to skip.
• Do not combine with SSRIs, SNRIs, MAOIs or lithium without medical advice. Lithium alongside psychedelics is associated with serious adverse events including seizures.
• Do not combine with alcohol, cannabis or any other substance.
• Do not drive or operate machinery for the rest of the day.
• Nausea in the first hour is common. Eat lightly beforehand rather than not at all.
• Keep refrigerated and out of reach of children and pets.

A Royal Magic five-star and a Mush Magic 4/5 are not comparable. There is no conversion because there is no shared measurement.
