One gram of Salvia Mystic 40X, the strongest extract in the Mystic range. Salvia divinorum is a member of the sage family from the Sierra Mazateca in Oaxaca, Mexico, where it has a long history of ritual and healing use among Mazatec practitioners.

The top of the range, and the one product on this page we would talk somebody out of. If you are reading this as your introduction to salvia, buy the 5X instead.

The active chemistry here is salvinorin A and salvinorin B. Salvinorin A works at the kappa-opioid receptor — not the serotonin receptors that mushrooms and LSD act on — which is why comparisons to those substances mislead more than they help.

The reported experience is brief and abrupt: two-dimensional visual perception, a feeling of separation from the body, and no dependable awareness of where you physically are. That combination is exactly why a sober person in the room matters more here than with any other plant we sell.

3. Why this is not a starting point

We would rather say this plainly than sell you the wrong product: 40X is not where anyone should begin. It is the strongest extract in the range and the amount required is correspondingly tiny.

• The margin for error is at its narrowest here. Small measuring mistakes have large consequences.
• Effects can be overwhelming even to experienced users. Prior salvia experience helps; it does not make this predictable.
• A sitter is mandatory, sober and physically present for the entire session.
• There is no advantage in starting high. Salvia does not reward it. If anything, the experience is harder to make sense of.

4.1 Preparation

Every item here exists because of something that has gone wrong for somebody:

• Someone stays sober and stays with you. They need to know what you took and roughly how much.
• Be seated or lying down before the first effects. Postural control is not reliable.
• Make the space safe first. No flames, no sharp or breakable objects, no stairs, no open windows.
• Keep a trip stopper to hand. Most are never opened; having one still helps.
• Nothing combined with it. No alcohol, no cannabis, no other substance, prescribed or otherwise.

4.2 Do not use this if

• You must be over 18.
• Do not use if pregnant or breastfeeding.
• Do not use if there is psychosis, schizophrenia or bipolar disorder in your own history or in your close family. Psychedelics are capable of precipitating episodes in people already predisposed to them, and this is the caution we would least like you to skip.
