Party-E carries the highest all-round rating in the Happy Caps range: five stars for energy, five for love, four for psychedelic. It is pitched at a whole evening rather than one part of one.

The stated formula is 100 mg of kratom extract with 70 mg of theobromine per capsule. Kratom acts at the body’s opioid receptors, which puts this cap in a different pharmacological category from the caffeine-based ones — and creates the specific problem set out in section 3.

One practical note. We also list this cap as a four-piece pack at a different price. As far as we can tell these are the same product under two catalogue entries, and we are consolidating them — if you are comparing the two listings, that is why they look identical. This cap is sold for evenings that involve drinking, and it is built on the one ingredient in the range that must not be combined with alcohol. That is worth addressing head-on rather than leaving in a caution list:

• Kratom and alcohol is the combination behind the documented serious harm. Both are depressant at the relevant doses, and case reports involving kratom overwhelmingly involve a second substance — usually alcohol or a benzodiazepine.
• Which is a genuine tension with how the cap is marketed. “Whether you are drinking, dancing, talking or flirting” is the maker’s own framing, and the first of those four is the problem.
• We are not going to reproduce that framing. If you use this cap, the honest advice is that it is for an evening without alcohol — which is a perfectly reasonable kind of evening and is arguably the point of a smartshop product in the first place.
• The dependence point applies too. Kratom produces tolerance, physical dependence and withdrawal with regular use. A cap taken every weekend is regular use.
• And there is a labelling oddity. The stated ingredients here are identical to those on Heavenly-E, a cap rated for relaxation rather than for a party. Two products with the same formula and opposite star profiles do not both add up, and we would rather flag that than pick one to believe.
