1. Indian Spirit Kratom — Green Borneo, 25g / 50g
Loose Green Borneo kratom powder from Indian Spirit, in 25-gram and 50-gram bags. Green vein sits between red and white, and Borneo is the largest single source region in the kratom trade — which together make this one of the most straightforwardly available strains there is.
Kratom is the leaf of Mitragyna speciosa. Its alkaloids act at the body’s opioid receptors, and the reported effect shifts direction as well as intensity with the amount: alert and sociable low down, sedating higher up, whatever the vein colour.
Green Borneo is widely described as the most balanced everyday option in the range — and this page uses that to make a point about rotation, which is the piece of kratom advice most often given and least often explained.
Legal status: Mitragyna speciosa is legal to sell and possess in the Netherlands. It is banned or controlled in several other countries and remains under regulatory review in the EU and the United States. Check the law where you live before ordering.

3. Strain rotation
The standard advice in kratom communities is to rotate strains. It is worth being precise about what that does and does not achieve, because the reason people usually give for it is wrong:
- Rotation does not prevent tolerance. Red, white, green and yellow all come from the same species and contain the same principal alkaloids. Tolerance builds at the receptor, and the receptor does not know which bag it came from.
- What actually reduces tolerance is time. Days between sessions, and longer breaks periodically. There is no substitute for that and no rotation schedule replaces it.
- What rotation does do is keep the experience varied, which matters for a different reason: people who take the same thing at the same time every day are describing a routine, and routines are how occasional use becomes daily use.
- It also gives you information. Trying several strains with a written record tells you which genuinely suits you, rather than which you happened to buy first.
- And it is easier with 25-gram bags, which is precisely what that size is for. Three different 25-gram bags cost about what one 50-gram bag does and teach you far more.
3.1 Where Green Borneo fits in that
It is the sensible middle of a rotation: neither the morning nor the evening option, and the one you can take at most points in a day without it being clearly the wrong choice. Widely available and reasonably consistent, which for a strain you use regularly matters more than distinctiveness does.
If you find yourself using it most days rather than in rotation, that is worth noticing. Frequency, not variety, is the thing that determines where kratom use goes.
4. Using it
4.1 Brewing it
- Measure by weight, never by spoon. Powder density varies enough between grinds that a level teaspoon is not a consistent unit. Four to five grams is the common starting point.
- Hot water off the boil, stirred through properly.
- Honey or a strong juice makes the bitterness manageable.
- Sediment included if you can face it; some of the alkaloid content is in it.
- Give it an hour before any second thought. Onset is usually around a quarter of an hour.
4.2 25 grams — the trial size
Twenty-five grams is around five to six sessions at a typical amount, which is exactly the right quantity for answering one question: does this strain suit me?
- Enough to judge it properly. One session tells you very little — how you slept, what you ate and what sort of day it was all colour a single result. Five or six gives you a real impression.
- Small enough to be no loss if it does not. Strain preference is genuinely individual and nobody gets it right first time.
- The sensible way to explore. Buy two or three 25-gram bags of different strains rather than one large bag of a strain you have not tried.
- Keep notes. Strain, amount, time of day, how it went. Across three strains that record is the only thing that will actually tell you which you prefer.
- Then buy the 50-gram bag of the one that worked, which is what the size is there for.
5. Cautions
- Not for anyone under 18, pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Kratom acts on the body’s opioid receptors. Regular use can lead to tolerance, dependence and withdrawal — this is well documented and is the single most important thing to know before starting.
- Do not combine with alcohol, sedatives, opioid medication or other central nervous system depressants. This combination is where serious harm occurs.
- Do not use if you have heart, lung, liver or kidney problems, high or low blood pressure, or diabetes, without medical advice.
- Do not drive or operate machinery after use.
- Kratom is restricted or banned in several European countries and under active regulatory review elsewhere. Check your local law before ordering.
- Keep out of reach of children and pets.
Rotating strains does not prevent tolerance — they all contain the same alkaloids. What it does is stop a habit forming around one bag, which is a different and still useful thing.
