1. Thai Growkit — 1200 cc
A 1200 cc all-in-one kit colonised with Psilocybe cubensis Thai — the Koh Samui landrace, collected from the Thai island where it grows in the wild. Landrace means it is a wild-adapted population rather than a cultivar selected in a lab, and in this case what it adapted to was heat.
That is the practical reason to choose it. Most cubensis strains are unhappy above 26 °C. This one handles a warm room, which makes it the sensible pick for a summer grow, a flat with poor ventilation, or anywhere you cannot hold a stable low-twenties temperature.
In the box: the colonised substrate container, a micro-filter grow bag and two paperclips. That is the complete list, and it is all you need. No syringes, no sterilising equipment, nothing to buy separately.
Legal status: Mushroom grow kits are sold legally in the Netherlands. Cultivating or possessing psilocybin mushrooms is illegal in many other countries, including Germany and the United Kingdom. We ship these kits as cultivation and study equipment; what you may legally do with one depends entirely on where you live, and that is your responsibility to check before ordering.

3. Heat
Temperature is the variable that decides most grows, and this strain moves the window upward rather than making it wider. Worth understanding precisely:
| Phase | Target |
|---|---|
| Colonisation | 24 °C to 27 °C — warmer than most cubensis |
| Fruiting | 21 °C to 26 °C |
| Too cold | Below about 20 °C growth slows markedly and pinning may not start at all |
| Too warm | Above roughly 28 °C bacterial contamination becomes the limiting factor for any strain, Thai included |
3.1 Practical temperature control
- Measure, do not estimate. A cheap digital thermometer next to the kit tells you more than any guide can.
- Stability beats the perfect number. A steady 22 °C outperforms a room that swings between 18 and 27 across the day.
- Off the floor and away from outside walls. Both run several degrees cooler than the middle of a room.
- Never on a radiator. A heat mat, if you use one, goes beside the kit rather than under it.
- In real heat, air exchange matters more. Warm and stagnant is the combination that grows bacteria rather than mushrooms.
The Thai advantage is genuine but it is a tolerance, not immunity. It buys you a few degrees of headroom, which in a hot flat is often the difference between a grow and a disappointment.
4. Setting it up
- Hygiene first, and it is not a formality. Clean hands, a wiped-down surface, a closed window. The mycelium has no competition until you give it some.
- Fill and leave. Remove the lid, fill the container with cold water so the substrate is covered, replace the lid, and let it stand 12 hours to rehydrate.
- Pour it off. Drain all the water out. Standing water at the bottom of the box causes bacterial problems within days.
- Bag and clip. Slide the box into the micro-filter grow bag, fold the opening twice and secure with both paperclips.
- Find it a home. Warm, stable, indirect light, away from radiators and windows that get direct sun.
- Open it once a day for a few seconds of air exchange, then reseal. That is the whole of the daily maintenance.
4.1 Harvesting and later flushes
- Pick when the veil under the cap starts to break. Later than that and spores drop onto the substrate, which does the next flush no favours.
- Twist at the base. Pulling lifts substrate along with the stem.
- Clear the whole flush together, including small ones that will not develop further.
- Re-soak for the next flush: cold water, 12 hours, drained thoroughly, back in the bag.
4.2 If something goes wrong
- Any colour that is not white or mushroom-coloured is bad news. Green and grey patches are mould and the kit is finished; seal it and bin it rather than opening it indoors.
- Trust your nose. A sour, ammonia-like or generally wrong smell means bacteria have taken the substrate.
- Fine grey cobwebbing spreading over the fruits is cobweb mould. More air exchange, immediately.
- Bluing where you have touched a mushroom is not a problem. It is oxidation and it is expected.
5. Before you use them
5.1 Preparation
- A sober sitter, in the room. Not next door, not on the phone — present, sober, and told what you have taken.
- Get down before you start. Sitting or lying. Never standing, never mid-task.
- Strip the room. Nothing burning, nothing breakable, no stairs and no open windows within reach.
- Trip stopper within arm’s reach. The reassurance is worth more than the capsules.
- On its own. No drink, no cannabis, nothing else in the mix.
5.2 Do not use these if
- Strictly 18+.
- Not during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
- Avoid entirely if you or anyone in your immediate family has a history of psychosis, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder or another serious psychiatric condition — psychedelics can trigger episodes in people who are predisposed.
- No alcohol, no cannabis, and nothing prescribed — SSRIs and MAOIs in particular — without medical advice.
- No driving and no machinery for the remainder of the day.
- Legality differs by country and changes over time. Confirm your own before ordering.
The Thai landrace does not widen the temperature window — it moves it upward. In a warm flat, that is exactly the help you need.
- A 1200 cc kit of the Koh Samui Thai landrace, a wild-adapted population rather than a lab cultivar.
- The most heat-tolerant strain we stock — the sensible choice for summer or a warm room.
- Colonisation 24 to 27 °C; fruiting 21 to 26 °C.
- First flush typically 150 to 300 g fresh, with pins around two weeks in.
- Keeps refrigerated at 4 °C for 4 to 6 weeks unopened.
- Kits are legal in the Netherlands; cultivation is illegal in many other countries. 18+ only.
- Order before 16:00 on weekdays for same-day dispatch in plain, unmarked packaging.
